Q. My Spark Plug needs replacing, what should I use?
Q. My 50cc Scooter seems to have worn out the CVT drive belt too quickly, why? Q. Can I pressure wash my engine compartment and my Scooter? Not really a good idea. That's not because the parts in the scooter are that fragile, but consider these points. 1. Anytime by whatever method you use to wash the engine, it should be cool and not hot. 2. After finishing washing the engine area, start it to let heat assist with evaporating remaining water. 3. Realize that if any water has ingested into the carburetor, or air box intake, you may not be able to start the engine at all! Cover air-box intake tube if you wash! 4. Using a pressure washer can forcefully inject water past gaskets and seals, inject moisture in copper wiring and create general parts Havoc! Don't risk it! 5. A better safer way to wash the engine and area is to use a squeeze bottle sprayer containing dishwashing detergent and water. Spray the detergent on the area liberally and let stand about ten minutes. Then rise it with a water using a hose and low pressure. Follow up with an air hose blasting to remove excess moisture, then start the engine to evaporate remaining water. Washing the engine always creates some risk of parts damage. Just blow it out with low pressure compressed air when really bad, and use a stiff bristled brush to dislodge dirt. You can always wash any non-electrical part like wheels, covers etc. Use a soapy wet rag and brush!
Q. I have lost my spare ignition key. Is there an easy way to get another one? 1. Keep them inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. This information is on the tire itself. Only inflate when the tires are cold. The Motofino factory ID tag on the Scooter does recommend a slightly lower pressure for front tires as opposed to the rear tire for better steering control, which is good. There isn't always an ideal center of gravity with driver weights varying so much. Know in general that significantly under-inflated tires wear out sooner, slow your top speed, and ultimately result in tire failure caused by excessive tire wall flexing. 2. Keep tire valve stem cover caps screwed on the tire valves. Replace them if missing. The cover cap protects the valve stem air seal. 3. Look for road cuts in the sidewalls and tread. Use a pointed object to pick out any gravel, metal fragments, or pieces of glass you find lodged in the tread. Replace damaged tires and do not drive the Scooter until you do! 4. New Scooter tires do not grip the road well until the tread surface roughens a little through road contact. Be aware of this fact, and don't lean agressively until you've driven those tires a few miles.
Q. My Scooter runs for several minutes then dies, the motor quits. What happened? I wait awhile and it starts again! Most likely probems... Sure, We have them. What model is it for? obviously the ability to stop is critical! You can order brake pads or bands and replace them when you discover you've used them to a point you can't adjust the control cable to compensate. It is true using both the front and the rear brake to slow or stop, together, will make both of them last longer. That and slowing down by reducing your power setting on the throttle when you know you are going to stop. Your Front Brake has the most stopping power. If you need instructions on how to replace brake pads or replace DOT 3 brake fluid in your Scooter brake resevoir, check your manual. If still confused call us.

Q. Where can I find important specification data about my Scooter? The vehicle VIN number, uniquely identifying this vehicle can be found stamped in the steel of the steering column tube. You have to remove a small retangular black plastic cover in the cockpit cowling, under and below the specification label to see it. With some scooters you are the one that snaps the cover in place because it was in the bag with your spare key and instruction booklet.
Q. What should I use to clean off bugs and road tar from my Scooter?
Q. What can I use to remove fogged lenses on my Scooter dash, headlights, or whatever without damage?
Photos Courtesy of Bob, Swampsniper2000@yahoo.com. in St. Augustine, FL. A Motofino MF125QT-2 owner, Bob runs the motofino scooter newsgroup on Yahoo. He has taught small engine mechanics at community colleges and enjoys discussing Scooters, usually! Join him and the group and see how other Motofino owners are using their scooters. Join his group and share experiences and maintenance stuff. Never try to fool Bob, he will see through it instantly!
Q. I want to seal a part, or tape some wires I can't wrap tape around what can I use to do that?
A. Use a "paint on" product called Liquid tape. Clean the area as best you can and apply. This will waterproof small scooter components like starter relays, etc. Caution- Read label before using. Flammable. Vapors harmful. Bob approves of Performix brand. He teachs small engine mechanics in Florida.
Motofino Scooter Spark Plug. ECOBIKEUSA stocks the NGK plug that performs best in Motofino Scooters. The price is $10.95 ea. Plugs are mailed directly to your address by U.S.Mail. Set the plug gap to .028, Start them into your cylinder head by hand. Oil the spark plug threads lightly first. If you are torquing in the plug never exceed 75 inch pounds. The CR series helps cut noise intefence to nearby radios, and contains a resistor. The C series contains no resistor in the plug itself and provides a stronger spark.
Q. I have broken a slot tab on a body panel and need to fix or another body or plastic scooter part.
Bob from St.Augustine, FL is a mechanical whiz at scooter repair, and highly recommends this product "Devcon Plastic Welder." Bob says unlike cements like JB Weld or whatever that depend on glued surface roughness, Devcon actually melts the ABS panel surface somewhat, fusing the plastic parts together as strong as new. Obviously you do not want to get the stuff anywhere except the joint you are bonding! This can save you the cost of a part! Bob advises you keep this stuff refridgerated after opening.

About Changing the Motofino Scooter CVT Belt -
This is not enormously hard task.
It is something which has to be done eventually when the belt is worn to the point it is slipping, or wearing thin so the top scooter speed is compromised.

New Motofino Scooters come with equipped a Torch Brand Spark Plug. While these seem perfectly adequate for brake -in driving, our experience with them indicates they exhibit a very short life in use. Changing to an NGK plug will often easily cure an annoying "hard to start" problem and certainly offers a more complete ignition and performance life.
Set plug gap to .028" before installing.
Motofino Scooter Maintenance Q and A: For Motofino Owners
Q. My Scooter doesn't seem to run as well as it did when I first got it. Do my valves need adjustment?
Sometimes the valve lash clearance is set a little tight preventing the intake and exhaust valves from opening fully. This causes a severe loss of power. You will notice on new Motofino Scooters, you cannot really hear any valve noise when the engine is running. Not that you should, however, a slight noise is acceptable if the valve set nut and adjstment is secure and still correct. The way you loose power with too little valve lash clearance is, the valves do not fully open long enough to grab the optimal amount of fresh fuel, or expell exhaust burned gases. Valve lash adjustments must be done on a cold to the touch engine. Never do it when the engine is hot or warm.
